Argyll’s rural and coastal location plays a part in all of the artist's works; be that in the sound, rurality or materiality

Placemaking and coastal environments play a pivotal role in the creative life of Argyll, with many artists' and makers' work on display reflecting this. With 79% of residents, living within 1km of the coast, the expression and context of placemaking shifts from practice to practice.
We are excited to share with you works from our members Deb Wing, Gabor Horvath, Seadrift Pottery, Own Way, Anthea Gage, Siamh Sound, Eve Campbell, and Deborah Gray.
This selection of creative works from Argyll and Bute will sit paired with products from the region including ‘The Pantry’ full dining set from a collaboration between CHARTS and Argyll and the Isles Tourism Cooperative, Lussa Gin from Jura, Unexpected Gin from a Cove Sailing Club and Little Brown Dog Collaboration, Kilmartin Gin, Isla Cocoa, Isle of Mull Seaweed.
All of the creatives involved in Out of Argyll have been supported by CHARTS’ Evolve programme, which was design to create artworks and experiences that engage the visitor in the unique landscape of Argyll.
The ceramics created at Sea Drift Pottery take influence from the Arts and Crafts movement, focusing on materiality and form function. This work sits in contrast to the artist collective Sàimh Sound whose works explore the cultural and natural heritage of Argyll through sonic and visual art.
CHARTS is supported by Argyll and Bute Council. This exhibition is made possible by Creative Scotland's funding of the Evolve Programme (2021-22). The produce pairings have been supported by Argyll and the Isles Tourism Cooperative.
